Tourism Ministry Promoting Tourist Destinations In Sulawesi

Palu, C Sulawesi, (Antarasulteng - The Tourism Ministry is promoting the tourist destinations and attractions of Central Sulawesi.

The ministry is promoting the province`s marine, nature, culinary, and culture, Head of the Central Sulawesi Tourism Office Siti Norma Mardjanu said here Thursday.

The Central Sulawesi administration has limited funds for tourism promotion in 2017, but has focused on improving the infrastructure and facilities to support the tourism industry in the province, she explained.

The tourism office, however, will promote the province`s destinations through festivals and online advertising, she maintained.

Based on the Regulation of Central Sulawesi Governor No. 35 Year 2016, the province`s main tourist destinations include Besoa and Bada Valley megalithic heritage sites in the Poso District, Lake Lindu and Matantimali mountainous area, known for their paragliding places, in the Sigi District, Togean Island marine resort in Tojo Una-Una, and Sombori Island marine resort in the Morowali District.

The provincial administration aims to draw more tourists to Togean Islands in Tojo-Una-Una District by improving the infrastructure there.

After conducting an official visit, the local authority will build several infrastructure projects to boost tourism in Togean Islands, Mardjanu had stated.

"The official visit was aimed at identifying the type of infrastructure needed to make local people comfortable and attract tourists," she revealed.

Togean Islands is an archipelago in the Gulf of Tomini, Central Sulawesi, which has several different islands and villages.

The beautiful islands are accessible from Gorontalo in the north and Ampana in the south.

Togean, Batudakan, and Una-Una are the three main islands of Togean Islands.

The islands are located close to the equator and are covered by tropical rainforest with white sandy beaches.

Togean Islands have also been declared as a marine national park that offer several diving spots, according to Law No. 1 of 2014.

The tourism ministry had declared the Togean Islands as one of the nation`s top 10 tourist destinations in 2016.
